Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield, currently on board the International Space Station, has been sharing some pretty remarkable photos on Twitter.

The US astronauts’ meals developed by the NASA Space Food Systems Laboratory (SFSL). Interesting fact: astronauts experience a loss in their sense of taste while in space, so the food must be spicy and flavour-filled.

The new photo was taken June 12 from the International Space Station. NASA says volcano researchers are excited about the picture “because it captures several phenomena that occur during the earliest stages of an explosive volcanic eruption.”
