This is the rough shape of the arcade machine – unpainted wood, without the screen or any of the electronics that would go on to make it any gamer’s dream.

These days, we can get just about anything on-demand. Whether it’s pizza, new movies, or newly released games. Playing with people on the Web at home is great and all, but what about those days when you and all your friends took a trip to the arcade? Now, those were the days.

Arcades resonate with our youth and while many things have improved with the technology, the communal nature of them still stands. We largely got it right the first time. They were a big part of many people’s childhoods. In an effort to experience a taste of his childhood, one man built his very own arcade machine.

He then had to prime the wood and drill holes in the wood where the electronics for the game controls would eventually go.

When it came time for the actual paint job, he chose black with white trim – a simple, but excellent choice for a color scheme.

Then, it was time to start working on the electronic components.

At this point, with all the buttons installed and the painting completed, it’s looking a lot more like the real thing.

Luckily, television technology has come a long way since the days of the original arcade machines. This guy was able to use a flat screen to play his games.

With the TV installed, all he had to do was cover the section behind the buttons and joysticks with some plexiglass. He also used screening to block the sections around the TV where you can see through to the back.

The finished product looks just as cool as the real deal!
