Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States in addition to being considered the “lunatic president” has had the distinct honor of being the face of the US twenty-dollar bill for a long time (since 1928 to be exact). However, it appears that his time to shine might just be coming to an end.

Groups like Women On 20s, and many others are petitioning for a change.

With the 100 year anniversary of the women’s suffrage coming up in 2020, there has been a lot of noise to help put a woman on the $20 bill.

Susan B. Anthony, whose face has appeared on the $1 coin, is one of the potential candidates to replace Jackson.

Anthony had an important role in the women’s suffrage movement and was an active social reform activist.

Clara Barton, a pioneering nurse who founded the American Red Cross also played a part in the woman’s suffrage movement.

But the overwhelming front-runner is Harriet Tubman.

Tubman was an African-American woman born into slavery, who later became an abolitionist and led about 13 rescue missions to save approximately 70 slaves.

It goes without saying that many people will fight to keep Jackson right where he is, however, an interesting note on Jackson is that he actually favored “hard money” in the form of gold and silver coins over paper money. So technically having him as the face of paper money seems oddly out of place if you ask me.

Then again, I am always one for tradition. So I’ll put it to you, what are your guys’ thoughts on the matter??
