The architect Sandro Ramishvili and Irakli Eristavi are the minds behind this extraordinary creation. Built in a minimalist style, the hotel seems to repeat the local terrain, cascading down the mountainside.

The philosophy behind the project was to safeguard the environment from the harmful effects of work and leisure. While building the hotel not only has the landscape been untouched, but the materials used to build it were environmentally friendly and of local production. Quadrum is the first boutique hotel located in the Upper Gudauri, Republic of Georgia.

As a company responsible for these pictures, we were more than excited to shoot this spectacular hotel up close.

It took 100,000 toothpicks, 35 years, and at least one moment when he was like “I think I’ll build the most glorious toothpick sculpture of San Francisco ever created,” but Scott Weaver did just that

Cable cars, Lombard Street, the Golden Gate Bridge–if it’s a San Francisco landmark, Weaver crafted a toothpick version of it. All that’s missing is the fog! As if that weren’t enough, the already impressive sculpture is equipped with winding trails for balls to roll through, hence the piece being named “Rolling Through the Bay.”

They started by digging a hole into a dirt slope beside their house.

The father of Reddit user wnx_ch had a dream ever since moving into his house years ago. There was something he really wanted to build. The family lives in a chalet in Switzerland, and as if living in that beautiful country doesn’t make me jealous enough, wait til you see what this guy and his father did over a 9 month period to make that dream come true.
Check out the process below, from start to epic finish.

Then they started building with some wooden planks and concrete. They had to let it dry for a week.

Coming along nicely, but what is this thing?

They added a second layer with some steel for stability and some holes and pipes for the rain water.

They bought the rest of the stuff they needed, weighing in at 880 pounds. Whoa.

Now we’re getting somewhere.

They built the arc for this fantastic creation on the ground before applying it to the structure.

Any idea what it is yet?

It needs ventilation, so that should narrow it down quite a bit.

Yes… it is what you think it is.

But at this point, winter was coming so they had to take a few months off.

In the meantime, they used LEGO to continue working on the design.

Seriously, LEGO is awesome.

Finally, in April they continued the building process.

I assume you know what this is by now. (Hint: it’s not a weird dog house)

They built the wooden tiles for the roof.

And stained them to look gorgeous.

And here it is, the finished result…

This is Jack, the family dog. He loves hanging out under anything (tables, chairs, etc). So his family decided to give him a more comfortable place to stay.

To help out their dog, this family decided to build a house for him under their stairs. They noticed that Jack, their dog, loved to hang out underneath items on the floor. Typically, most dogs instinctively like small crawl spaces for dens. They feel more secure that way.
Jack’s family was inspired by these posts on Pinterest, where people used the excess space under the stairs as a place for a doggy den. They made some measurements, gathered their tools (and dog) and got to work.

They started by cutting the wall between two studs under the stairs.

Here they are, figuring out what size the door should be. The door needed to be high enough for Jack to fit through (which typically should be height of his dogs haunches).

Inside, though, Jack would be able to stand at his full height comfortably.

The used pine tongue-and-groove boards for the interior and exterior of the house.

Making measurements (and letting Jack get excited about his new home).

They used the mat from a pet crate as a size guideline. Dad also put Jack’s bed in his new cubby right away, to help the dog get accustomed to the location and smell.

Pine was also used for the fake doghouse facade to match the interior.

Shingle pieces were added to the top to give a real “doghouse” look.

Ta-da! All finished and ready for Jack.
