Someone get this cat a medal.

A cat in Bakersfield, Calif., potentially saved a boy’s life when it staved off a vicious dog attack, and the whole rescue was caught on surveillance video.

A dog belonging to a neighbor comes around a car and sneaks up on the boy.

The dog runs up to the boy and viciously attacks him, dragging him down the pavement by the leg.

Suddenly, the family cat, Tara, rushes out and knocks the dog off the boy, saving him.

Tara even makes sure the dog gets the message that it’s not welcome.

The boy’s mother told KERO-TV that he was fine, but needed a few stitches.
