Being a football player is a dream for many children in America. Though one has a slim chance of getting drafted in the NFL, there’s no shortage of people trying their darndest to achieve such a feat.

If one is actually able to realize this ultimate dream, then playing in the NFL is often sufficient enough. After all, they’ve made it to the big leagues, with big endorsements and big signing bonuses to follow. However, this is not enough for every professional football player. Some have a hard time giving up their life and dreams off the field once they finally make it.

John Urschel is a guard for the Baltimore Ravens, and has greatly excelled at his position. He went from a fifth-round draft pick to the starting lineup of the team.

Urschel is paid millions of dollars to protect the Ravens’ quarterback, Joe Flacco. He is also known for having one of the most brilliant minds in the game of football.

Despite being a 300+ pound monster of a man, Urschel is also a bit of a math whiz.

Actually, he is one of the leading mathematical minds of our time. He has been published in many scholarly journals devoted to the subject.

His most recent work, “A Cascadic Multigrid Algorithm for Computing the Fiedler Vector of Graph Laplacians,” was published in the Journal of Computational Mathematics.

Try to understand it. I dare you.

There is significantly more to NFL players than one might think. For instance, Urschel plans on becoming a math scholar once his NFL career is over. Until then, he plans on smashing his way through defenders and protecting his quarterback.

A Streak Of Burglaries Hit This Neighborhood Hard. When You Learn What Residents Did Next, You’ll Want To Do It Too…Wow!

The Grandview neighborhood in Phonenix suffered a rash of 25 break-ins recently that left residents nervously on edge.

A suburb of Phoenix, Arizona recently got hit with a rash of break-ins and burglaries. Usually residents have a tough time banding together against crime, but this time things turned out very different.

Residents are usually left to fend for themselves – not knowing that their neighbors are experiencing the same danger and not able to fight back.

In Grandview, neighbors used the app Nextdoor to come forward with confirmed cases, spreading awareness and suggesting ways to combat the problem.

One resident posted details about what was stolen and how the burglar fled the scene, enabling neighbors to spot similar sketchy behavior. The Phoenix police department used the information to track down six suspects, all of whom were arrested.

One resident tells us that standard procedure for dealing with crime is now to call 911 and also post details on Nextdoor.

Residents have used the app for everything from meeting their neighbors, to organizing watch groups, to sharing information on the best babysitters and contractors.

Already six people have been arrested in Grandview, and the Phoenix police department has officially teamed up with Nextdoor to fight crime better than they could before.

Think of Nextdoor as a private network just for your neighboorhood, with only verified residents allowed in. Users can make announcements, send/receive private messages, and schedule events. Already over 32,000 neighborhoods are using it.
