The Concordia research station is interpretationsed on the Antarctic Plateau and operates year round.

When Zack Snyder’s beefcake circus 300 became a worldwide hit in the spring of 2007, Snyder established himself as the cinema’s leading poet of homoeroticism.

I mean…

Seriously.

Because why not work in leather briefs all day?

Hello there, Xerxes! Way to make the barely veiled homoerotic subtext into simply text!

Snyder even recognized the erotic power of Michael Fassbender’s gams well before the rest of the world.

And Fassbender’s suggestive smile.

And Fassbender’s powerful sense of male camaraderie.

And Fassbender’s flirtatious wit.

Needless to say, the man of steel is impressed.

Next, Snyder tackled Watchmen, featuring the not-so-subtly gay character Ozymandias (Matthew Goode), and his no-so-subtly nippled superhero costume.

Snyder branched out to female homoeroticism when he had The Silhouette embrace a nurse celebrating the end of WWII.

But really, this movie was all about Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup) and his physically perfect — and very naked — body.

Behold! Glowing blue peen!

Yes, Dr. Manhattan’s glowing blue peen was part of Alan Moore’s graphic novel. But by all reports, Snyder insisted that it be in the film.

See, the pre-Man of Steel man of steel gets it.

And speaking of Man of Steel…

…this is a man of steel.

He is shirtless and literally in flames.

Aw, Superman’s shy now!

And while Snyder’s oeuvre has been focused mostly on the glories of the male form, Sucker Punch is pretty much all ladies, all the time.

Whoa! Not too tight! (Or…maybe…not tight enough?)

Aw — sweet and sexy!

Yup. Henry Cavill approves!

Even the owls in Zack Snyder’s animated Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole are getting close and cozy!

OK, you’re right, Superman, that one was a stretch.
