In an explosive return to airwaves, South Park kicked off its 27th season on July 23 with an unapologetic takedown titled “Sermon on the Mount.” The premiere skewers Donald Trump with biting satire—from Epstein file digs and genital jokes to a surreal Satan bed-scene—just hours after creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone sealed a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount.

Trump vs Satan: The NBC‑style Roast

The episode depicts Trump lying naked in bed with Satan, who mocks the size of his genitalia and questions his denial of ties to the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump’s cartoon version repeatedly says “Relax, guy” in the face of mounting controversy, parodying his public posture while referencing a defamation settlement with Paramount over a CBS interview.

Media Moguls & Corporate Treachery

In a layered satire, South Park addresses the impacts of Paramount’s merger with Skydance, the $16 million lawsuit resolution, and the abrupt cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show.” Jesus, returning in the episode, warns the town not to “end up like Colbert,” provoking a plot where South Park settles Trump’s $3.5M lawsuit and begins producing pro-Trump PSAs.

White House Claps Back

The Trump administration responded swiftly. A White House spokesperson called out the show as “outdated and desperate,” accusing critics of hypocrisy. Despite previous coverage of Trump, they claimed South Park’s relevance has faded—though the creators fired back publicly, calling the merger process a “shitshow.”

Why It Matters

This episode marks a critical moment: South Park confronting Trump during his second presidential era, addressing current political and media controversies, while serving as a litmus test for free speech boundaries in satirical animation.
