The Old City of Aleppo is the historic city center of Aleppo, Syria. Many districts of the ancient city remained essentially unchanged since its construction during the 12th to the 16th century. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. Here are the photos that show what happened to it after the Civil War began there in the early spring of 2011 and how it looked before.

Syria will never be the same. On February 13, 2013, the United Nations put out an estimate of 70,000 that had died in the civil war. March 2013 has been the bloodiest month since the beginning of the war in 2011. More than 6,000 people have died.
