There’s nothing here to indicate he is wearing or doing anything out of the ordinary for 1941. The black camera he’s holding, while it may have been expensive to own, could have been a black Hasselblad large format camera. These cameras were readily available in 1941 and may have appeared somewhat modern, though as I said, expensive. Even looking at a 1940s Hasselblad today, they still appear quite modern. He also seems of about the age that he could have been in college. His t-shirt is indicative of a college lettered shirt possibly indicating he was on a team, perhaps even the rowing team looking at his build. His sweater seems in keeping with the time as well. As for his hair style, it appears similar to even some that are in the crowd there, but slightly longer which may again indicate he’s a college student. The sunglasses are also not out of the ordinary as they were also readily available then. The only thing I can surmise about this man is that he may have been wealthier than those around him. Thus, he could have afforded such things as college, Hasselblad cameras and expensive sunglasses.

There’s nothing here to indicate he is from any time period than the 1940s. Yes, he does appear more modern and casual than those around him in the photo, but there are other photos from the 40s that also show men in similar casual dress including similar t-shirts and similar hairstyles. Just search Google for 1940s college yearbook photos.
