Did you spot the frozen alien in the ice during the first mission?

It’s the first of many alien references in the game. Someone else found a spaceship on top of Mount Chiliad.

Another was found one while skydiving out of a plane.

If you’re not near it, the UFO will start to disappear.

We broke into the Playboy mansion in the Vinewood hills.

At night, the entire place is lit up, a bunch of girls come out …

… and there’s a cool cavern you can go inside.

You’ll find a zombie near the Walk of Fame in Vinewood. Don’t worry. He won’t eat you.

Others have found a cannibal cult that let’s you give them people in exchange for money.

For any fans of ABC’s “Lost,” the guys at Ready Up Live found the Hatch from the series off the east coast of Los Santos.

Someone else found a ghost on top of Mount Gordon that appears there for one hour.

Up for more paranormal activity? Big foot — who has popped up in previous installments of the franchise — can be found during the “Predator” mission.

A hippie named Jesse — who many are comparing to Jesus — is waiting to hang out on the Los Santos Del Perro Pier.

Head to downtown Los Santos and you can find a mime who will start putting on a show once you approach him.

After riding the cable car up to the top of Mount Chiliad, we found this cryptic inscription on a wall.

Obviously, it has to do with the aliens found throughout the game. Looks like in addition to UFOs, we can gain access to a dinosaur(?), and a jetpack (sweet).

You can find a pink dinosaur outside of Rex’s Diner in Sandy Shores.

See this giant orange on top of a juice stand?

You can knock it off the top of the building and send it flying down the mountainside. It’s located in the center of the map.

Fans of “No Country for Old Men”? There’s a scene laid out in the mountains that’s very similar to the movie (no spoilers).

Head a little farther down the mountain and you’ll find a few more men and a briefcase. Grab the case and get $25,000 in easy money.

Miss San Andreas from GTA IV? You can head back to the neighborhood of the former protagonist CJ.

There are a few drawings on Mt. Chiliad. One player found a face thinking it’s Aaron Paul from “Breaking Bad.”

Off the Northwest coast, someone found the remains of what appear to be a sea monster.

There are a bunch of custom clothes you can buy in the game for your player. Among them is a nod to Ryan Gosling’s jacket from “Drive.”

At Sandy Shores, you can find a “Star Trek” reference “Beam Me Up” spray painted on a wall of the giant alien skate park.

Want to find Halo’s Master Chief and Superman in the game? Head over to Lester’s house and he has toy replicas of the two — along with a few others — sitting on a shelf.

The post 36 Retro Games That Quietly Turned Into Legends appeared first on Barnorama.

Dark Origins and Hidden Blocks

First, let us examine the incredibly dark backstory of the Mushroom Kingdom. The official game manual states a truly horrifying fact. The evil Koopas actually turned the innocent citizens into solid brick blocks. Furthermore, you mercilessly smash these exact same blocks to collect shiny coins. Next, this specific Super Mario Bros trivia completely ruins the happy atmosphere. Therefore, the hero is actually destroying the poor people he wants to save. Moreover, the iconic bushes and floating clouds are the exact same sprite. The lazy developers simply changed the color palette to save digital memory. Consequently, this brilliant shortcut allowed them to fit the entire game on a tiny cartridge. Also, Mario originally wore a simple hat because drawing realistic hair was totally impossible.

Strange Names and Surprising Enemies

In addition to dark secrets, the famous characters have very weird origins. You probably never knew that Mario was originally named Jumpman. As a result, the creators changed it to honor their angry warehouse landlord. Then, we must discuss the absolute truth about the green dinosaur Yoshi. Additionally, designers originally wanted Mario to ride a dinosaur in the very first game. Therefore, technical limitations forced them to wait several years for the sequel. Furthermore, the terrifying Chain Chomp enemy is based on a real traumatic event. The creator was chased by a very angry neighborhood dog as a small child. Finally, you should quickly share this amazing Super Mario Bros trivia with everyone. So, dust off your old console and play this incredible game right now!

Engineering a Giant Nostalgia Trip

Building this monstrosity required more than just carpentry skills because the creator had to wire the giant buttons to a real controller circuit board hidden inside the frame. You have to lift the glass top to access the controls, which feels like opening a treasure chest of childhood memories, except this treasure chest lets you defeat Bowser. The buttons on the NES controller coffee table are spring-loaded to provide that authentic clicky feel, although you might need to use your entire palm or an elbow to make Mario jump across that first pit without dying.

Co-Op Mode and Living Room Ergonomics

Playing games on an NES controller coffee table changes the dynamic of multiplayer because you and your friend have to hunch over the furniture like scientists examining a rare specimen. It turns a standard gaming session into a full-body workout, especially if you try to use the Konami Code before the title screen fades away. Guests will inevitably spill their drinks in excitement when they realize the table works, but that is a small price to pay for owning the coolest piece of geek furniture in the entire neighborhood.
