The large-scale piece features a man and a woman made of metal slats. At first, the statues face each other. After a while, they begin moving closer and closer to one another. They continue moving forward until they have a brief moment of contact, but this concept of closeness is short lived, because they don’t stop when they meet. Instead, they continue on their paths until they move right through each other.

The statues, designed and built by Tamara Studio in 2007, represent the main characters in one of the region’s most celebrated love stories.

The tale, Ali and Nino, tells the story of Ali, a Muslim boy, and Nino, a Georgian princess. When they meet, the two immediately fall in love, but they’re eventually torn apart by Soviet forces.

The sad procession of these two immense figures represents the trajectory of Ali and Nino’s impossible love. Although their cultures clash, they come together for a brief union…but it all ends when outside forces get in the way.

The novel was written by an author who used the pen name Kurban Said. To this day, no one knows the author’s true identity.

The novel also explores the cultural differences of East and West.

These statues begin moving every evening, and the whole process takes about three minutes.

Watch the full procession in the video below:

This is the latest project by landscape artist Stan Herd, who uses fields as canvases to create large-scale interpretations of art. He recreates famous pieces (like the Van Gogh painting seen here) and even works on some originals. They’re unique because they can only be seen in full from the air.

This piece is composed of different plants, tracks, and soil patterns. Herd used grass of different lengths to create various tones and values.

This is the painting that Herd recreated with living plants.

It’s Vincent Van Gogh’s 1889 piece called Olive Trees.

First, the painting was measured and the land was parceled out.

The grid you see on the print helped Herd and his team create a scale model.

After that, the real work began.

This piece of landscaping art is located near an airport in Minneapolis, and it’s visible to passengers as they enter the city. Herd has been working on these landscaping projects, which he calls “earthworks,” since 1981.

The project was commissioned by the Minneapolis Institute of Art (which is home to the original painting) in an effort to get people excited about visiting the city.

Each element of the painting had to be carefully planned out to ensure that the proportions were right.

Creating an earthwork like this is no simple feat, and it requires a lot of physical labor.

And this isn’t even the largest earthwork that Herd has created.

In the early 1980s, he made one that covered 160 acres of land in Kansas.

With patience and hard work, the image started coming together.

The fruit of Herd’s labor is absolutely stunning.

The Van Gogh earthwork will be on display near the airport throughout the autumn season. Herd plans to mow down the creation when winter arrives, but even his method of destruction is symbolic. He will remove the earthwork in a concentric circle pattern that mimics Van Gogh’s painting method.

You can see more of Herd’s earthworks on his website, and learn more about the original Van Gogh painting from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. If you happen to fly into Minneapolis this fall, snap a picture of the field and share it with the tags #BDayMia and #vangrow.

If you like having one cat, you might have thought about what having multiple cats is like. Sure, they’re cute, entertaining, and sometimes downright weird, but many people find that they have a limit when it comes to how many cats they want living in their home. Luckily, if you’re on the fence about running down to the shelter, there’s a photographer that can give you an idea of what your house will look like with a crowd of cats.

French-Canadian photographer Andreanne Lupien found a group of cat-enthusiasts over the years, and photographed them in their homes with their cats. Then, she digitally multiplied the cats so that it appears, in the final images, as though their homes are overrun with felines. In reality, her subjects might only have one or two cats, but after Lupien’s editing, they appear to have many more. The series is aptly titled Crazy Cat Lovers, and the models were came from a group of both friends and strangers.

The effect looks most realistic when the person really does have multiple cats.

For this project Ben Hopper decided to work with circus artists and dancers for their physical appearance and capabilities.

The list includes international acclaimed performers and graduates of the world’s leading circus schools, École nationale de cirque (Montreal, Canada), CNAC; Centre national des arts du cirque (Châlons-en-Champagne, France) and National Centre for Circus Arts (London, UK). Like a mask, the layers of body paint and powder disguise the identity and release something animalistic from within.
