Andy Dwyer – Parks and Recreation
Andy was originally cast as the self-absorbed, lazy boyfriend that was supposed to be dumped after the first season, but his character worked so well with the others that they decided to keep him on for the entire series. Now look at the things that he’s doing.

Hannibal Lecter – Silence of the Lambs
Obviously Hannibal was created as one of the main antagonists of the film, and was supposed to be extremely creepy and disliked. Because Anthony Hopkins played the role so well, portraying incredible wit and intelligence for the character, people actually fell in love with Hannibal. Hopkins even went on to win an Oscar for his performance, increasing the amount of love people had for the character.

Stone Cold Steve Austin – WWE
Steve Austin joined the WWE as the disrespectful, beer-drinking antagonist that everyone was supposed to hate. Turns out, people loved the “bad boy” persona and he became the biggest WWE megastar in the world.

Boba Fett – Star Wars
As a very minor character who only had a handful of lines throughout the entire saga, it’s strange why he became so loved. I asked resident Star Wars expert, Phil Nye, why he though Boba Fett was so liked and his response was, “He looks like a badass, is badass enough to not have to talk and everybody knows he’s a badass, is badass enough for Darth Vader to respect him, and is a badass.” Seems legit.

Towelie – South Park
South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, set out to create the worst character that they possibly could with Towelie, the pot -smoking towel. They wanted everyone to hate him, but quite the opposite happened, leading them to create entire episodes surrounding the character.

Wile E. Coyote – Looney Tunes
The coyote was created for one purpose, to kill the Road Runner. But, because he never was successful at completing his job, people began to rot for him instead of his enemy, due to his perseverance and bad luck.

Draco Malfoy – Harry Potter Series
As the direct enemy of Harry Potter, Draco was supposed to be hated by all. After the movies came out, J.K. Rowling was appalled at the fact that girls across the world were drooling over Draco because of his ‘bad boy’ attitude and bleach blonde locks.

Crowley – Supernatural
As one of the worse villains in the show, Crowley looks completely unlikeable on paper. However, as the show progresses, he begins to become oddly benevolent. For example, he restructures Hell after taking it over, so that he could stop demons from coming up to earth to fuck with people. What a good guy.

Frasier Crane – Cheers
Frasier was brought on to the show as a temporary obstacle for Sam to overcome. He was so well received by the audience that he became a regular cast member and wnet on to become the main character in the extremely popular spin-off, ‘Frasier.’

John Hodgeman’s PC – Apple’s ‘Mac vs. PC’ Ads
Obviously people were supposed to hate the PC in these commercials since it is a commercial for Apple. However, Jon Hodgman nailed the character so well, that people looked forward to hearing from the PC more than Justin Long’s ‘Mac.’

Squidward – Spongebob Squarepants
Squidward is the character in the show that always seemingly tries to ruin things for Spongebob. As the show went on, many people began to realize just how much of an asshole Spongebob was towards Squidward, causing a lot of empathy.

The Phantom – The Phantom of the Opera
Back when the original book was released, the author Gaston Leroux, portrayed the Phantom as a dark and terrifying character. When the musicals started to emerge, the actors portrayed the phantom as loving and gentlemanly, causing audiences to take a liking to the character in a big way.

Tony Soprano – The Sopranos
Tony Soprano is definitely a villain who is just all around a terrible person. As the series progressed, audiences actually began to empathize with the guy and ultimately ended up loving the character.

Spike – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Spike was only supposed to be around for a few episodes as a villain that everyone hated, but people fell in love with him. He ended up sticking around for about 8 seasons, including a spin-off.

Steve Urkel – Family Matters
Urkel was originally cast in the small role of the annoying neighbor that Officer Winslow would kick out of the house to get a good reaction from the audience. The character eventually became a household name and the show started to center their episodes around the character.

Rorschach – Watchmen
Rorschach is undoubtably the most popular character in the novel. However, this was not the intention of the author, Alan Moore. Moore wanted to create a character that was such a nightmare that readers were disgusted by him. Unfortunately, that backfired, and he became the face of the franchise.

This Reddit user isn’t a professional. He isn’t a contractor. He is just a simple man who had a simple task: to build a treehouse.

He was helping out a friend in wine country who wanted to add a treehouse to their property (probably just to make it even more insanely beautiful). So, after arming himself with hours of research, he got to work.
It took 57 days to build this “DIY” treehouse. The materials cost him about $5,000 (although he had some door frames and other supplies himself). In less than two months, he was able to create a small playhouse that is more comfortable than most people’s first apartment. I want this.

This was the tree that was selected for the tree house. It was a live oak with three large branches.

The property was situated on a hillside. There was an existing deck (on the right) 26 feet from the tree (the branches on the left), with a gravel access road in between.

A rope ladder access just wouldn’t do, so they decided to build a bridge.

He poured concrete post foundations to place the supporting framework in for stability.

The side slats were made from deconstructed wine barrels (it was wine country after all).

It was going to be a drawbridge initially…

But it would have been dangerous for children.

To prevent any damage from swaying in the wind, he added sliding beam brackets to the support pieces so that the tree could move a little.

Then, it was time to build the deck.

The final deck size was final deck 12′ x 18′.

It was time for framing.

The tree house itself is 8 feet wide by 12 feet long. The over-sized deck gives a two foot walkway around the tree house, although dodging some branches was required.

Sheathing, weatherproofing, and windows installed.

They chose not to let the branches go through the house.

Instead, they built around them.

That way, the house could still be weather-proofed and prevent insects from getting in.

This is what the inside looked like.

Aside from being a cool place to getaway…

The tree house also has electricity, water, phone, cable, internet, and in-wall speaker wiring.

It’s a home away from home.

As told by JK Rowling. In a series of interviews over the years, the author has revealed the future of the Harry Potter characters, far beyond the Deathly Hallows epilogue.

Harry married Ginny Weasley. They had three children: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna.

 Kingsley Shacklebolt became Minister for Magic.

JK Rowling:
“Kingsley became permanent Minister for Magic, and naturally he wanted Harry to head up his new Auror department… The Ministry of Magic was de-corrupted, and with Kingsley at the helm the discrimination that was always latent there was eradicated. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny et al would of course play a significant part in the re-building of wizarding society through their future careers.”

Hermione and Ron married and had two children, Hugo and Rose.

Draco Malfoy married Astoria Greengrass, the younger sister of Daphne. They had one son, Scorpius Hyperion.

After the death of his parents, Teddy Lupin was raised by his grandmother Andromeda.

JK Rowling:
“Unlike Neville Longbottom, who was also raised by his grandmother, Teddy had his godfather, Harry, and all his father’s friends in the Order, to visit and stay with.”

George Weasley married his Quidditch teammate Angelina Johnson. They had two children, Fred and Roxanne.

Harry, and eventually Ron, joined the Auror Department at the Ministry of Magic. Hermione became a high-ranking official in the Department Magical Law Enforcement.

JK Rowling:
” Harry and Ron utterly revolutionized the Auror Department at the Ministry of Magic… Hermione began her post-Hogwarts career at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures where she was instrumental in greatly improving life for house-elves and their ilk. She then moved (despite her jibe to Scrimgeour) to the Deptartment of Magical Law Enforcement where she was a progressive voice who ensured the eradication of oppressive, pro-pureblood laws.”

 Bill and Fleur Weasley’s first child, a daughter, was born on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. They named her “Victoire,” which means “victory” in French.

Dementors were no longer used by the Ministry of Magic.

JK Rowling:
“The use of Dementors was always a mark of the underlying corruption of the Ministry, as Dumbledore constantly maintained.”

Ginny Weasley became a professional Quidditch player for a few years, then retired to become a Quidditch correspondent for the Daily Prophet.

JK Rowling:
“After a few years as a celebrated player for the Holyhead Harpies, Ginny retired to have her family and to become the Senior Quidditch correspondent at the Daily Prophet.”

Harry and Dudley made a point to see each other and get their families together as adults.

JK Rowling:
“Harry and Dudley would still see each other enough to be on Christmas-card terms, but they would visit more out of a sense of duty and sit in silence so that their children could see their cousins.”

Percy Weasley became an official in the new Ministry of Magic under Kingsley Shacklebolt and married a woman named Audrey. They had two daughters, Molly and Lucy.

Bill and Fleur Weasley had three children: Victoire, Louis, and Dominique.

Hermione went back to Hogwarts to complete her seventh year of study and her N.E.W.T.S. Harry and Ron did not.

JK Rowling:
“She would definitely, definitely go back. And she would want to graduate, and I think that she was- I mean,I love Hermione. She went with Ron and Harry because she has a really good heart. That’s not about brain. Ultimately, she had a bigger heart than she had a brain and that’s saying something for Hermione. But did she- Was she naturally drawn to battle? No, she wasn’t. She’s not a Bellatrix. She’s not a woman who actually wants to be hurting, fighting, killing. Not at all. She would be glad to go back to school, be glad to get back to study, and then would join [Harry and Ron] at the Ministry.”

Mr. Weasley eventually fixed Sirius Black’s motorcycle and gave it to Harry.

 Luna Lovegood married Rolf Scamander, the grandson of naturalist Newt Scamander. They had two children, twin boys named Lorcan and Lysander.

Minerva McGonagall became headmistress of Hogwarts.

JK Rowling:
“Nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, the school for witchcraft and wizardry is led by an entirely new headmaster. McGonagall was really getting on a bit.”

Harry ensured that Severus Snape’s portrait was restored to its proper place in the Hogwarts headmaster’s office.

JK Rowling:
“[The absence of Snape’s portrait in the final scene of Deathly Hallows] was deliberate. Snape had effectively abandoned his post before dying, so he had not merited inclusion in these august circles. However, I like to think that Harry would be instrumental in ensuring that Snape’s portrait would appear there in due course… Harry would ensure that Snape’s heroism was known.”

Alice and Frank Longbottom never recovered — they lived out their lives in St. Mungo’s.

JK Rowling:
“I know people really wanted some hope for that, and I can quite see why because, in a way, what happens to Neville’s parents is even worse than what happened to Harry’s parents. The damage that is done, in some cases with very dark magic, is done permanently.”

 Harry lost the ability to speak to snakes when the Horcrux inside him was destroyed.

J.K. Rowling:
“He loses the ability, and is very glad to do so.”

 Firenze was eventually welcomed back into the centaur herd.

JK Rowling:
“The rest of the herd was forced to acknowledge that Firenze’s pro-human leanings were not shameful, but honourable.”

Cho Chang married a Muggle.

Teddy Lupin and Victoire Weasley became boyfriend and girlfriend.

Gilderoy Lockhart never recovered from the injuries he sustained in the Chamber of Secrets.

JK Rowling:
“Nor would I want him to. He’s happy where he is, and I’m happier without him!”

Neville Longbottom became the Hogwarts Herbology professor. He married Hannah Abbott, who became the new landlady at The Leaky Cauldron.

JK Rowling:
“To make him extra cool he marries the woman who becomes, eventually, the new landlady at The Leaky Cauldron, which I think would make him very cool among the students, that he lives above the pub. He marries Hannah Abbott.”

Dolores Umbridge was arrested, interrogated, and imprisoned for crimes against Muggle-borns.

Harry and Ginny’s children stole the Marauder’s Map and snuck it into Hogwarts.

JK Rowling:
“I’ve got a feeling [Harry] didn’t give [the Marauder’s Map] to any of [his children], but that James sneaked it out of his father’s desk one day.”

Harry, Ron, and Hermione became memorialized in Chocolate Frog cards.

JK Rowling:
“Ron will describe this as his finest hour.”
