“Sex and sexual preferences aren’t the same for men and women. What feels good – or great – can vary significantly based on the position and who is in control. That being said, of the 2,000 people we surveyed, both genders agreed that doggy style was their favourite position.

However, men were more inclined toward the cowgirl position, while women picked the missionary position as their second favourite. Both positions allow for partners to watch each other during intercouse, which can help create a deeper, more emotional connection during sex.”

When it came to sexual orientation, our survey respondents were mostly inclined to agree on their favourite position– regardless of their gender preferences. Straight, bisexual, and gay participants all told us that doggy style was their favourite position over any other. They also identified missionary as a favored position and straight and bisexual respondents were both inclined to enjoy holding their partners legs up.

“Breaking down favourite sex positions by country, we found that doggy style was popular in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, Romania, and the United States. Cowgirl was popular in Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium, and holding legs up was a favourite in Hungary and Portugal. Only Poland listed spooning as a preferred position.”

“While tabletop came in as the overall least prefered position listed by survey respondents, almost 20 percent told us it was the position they most wanted to try. The 69 standing up position, kneeling wheelbarrow, and anal sex also ranked as positions respondents wanted to test out.

While each of these may be more physically challenging than the missionary position or doggy style, research has shown that a robust sex life can have additional health benefits, like improved immunity, heart health, and better stress management.”

This position can be a bit tricky to pull off for some, but it is certainly one of the most intimate ways to provide oral sex. Men also listed anal as a position they wanted to try. Women surveyed were most interested in the tabletop position. As an elevated form of missionary, tabletop provides a unique take on a classic position. The kneeling wheelbarrow and 69 standing up were also voted as positions women were desirous to explore.”

Unsurprisingly, when we asked men where they learned about new sex positions, over 53 percent cited porn as their inspiration. A majority of female survey takers told us they learned new positions from a partner.”

“Looking at respondents’ biggest fears in bed, nearly 38 percent of men acknowledged they were most afraid of hurting their partners. Considering that men were more interested in positions like 69 standing up and anal, it would make sense that discomfort might be at the top of their list. However, men were much less concerned about hurting themselves – less than 9 percent listed it as a concern.

While some women (just over 23 percent) said they were worried about hurting themselves during a new position, over 31 percent were worried about not being flexible enough. Considering the acrobatic nature of positions like the kneeling wheelbarrow, flexibility can be the difference between just getting through it and enjoying yourself. Almost 21 percent of women even said they were afraid that they might be too heavy or big for a new position.”

The Palingenia longicauda, (also known as the long-tailed mayfly or the Tisza mayfly to locals) have a strange life cycle allowing them to live underground in the larvae state for 3 years of their lives. The only time they surface is as an adult, mating and plaguing the surrounding Hungary towns with a dense cloud of insect orgies.

After fully maturing, the male Tisza mayflies emerge from the mud below the river ready to mate. They only have about 3 hours to do so before they die.

Due to synchronized hatching, the mayflies all emerge at once, in one big cloud of bodies and pheromones.

The insects are so desperate to get it on that one female may have up to 20 males going after her at one time.

The air gets so thick with the insects that it almost looks like snow. Indeed, when the mating is over, snow plows have to come to clear the streets.

The Tisza River is now the only place in the world where you can see long-tailed mayflies, though they once used to flourish throughout Europe.

These pictures may make it look like something Moses conjured to punish the Egyptians, but most Europeans who witness the blooming of the Tisza River say the event is actually quite beautiful. In fact, efforts have been made to reestablish mayfly eggs to certain European rivers to blossom the return of new Tisza mayfly colonies. I wish them good luck on that effort, and to not start any similar effort in the States!

Passers by often refer to Ludvik as the devil, like in a fairy tale.

Ludvik Dolezal isn’t your average homeless man. Ludvik, who is from the Czech Republic, actually may be the dirtiest man in Europe. That’s because of his unusual habit. He is absolutely fascinated with ashes and fire. So much so, he sleeps in a bed made of ash.
The man burned his mattress and duvet cover just to create enough ash to comfortably sleep in. He believes that fire is one of the most important parts of his life.

One day, he quit his job.

Since then, he has “been with the fire.”

He burns nearly all of his possessions so that he can cover up with hot ash.

It’s believed that his obsession with fire and ash is the result of a psychological disorder

One of the few possessions he managed not to burn is his radio.

Sometimes strangers will give the man tires to burn so he can keep warm.

He’s also a heavy smoker.

He believes he has breathing problems and by smoking at least one pack a day, it helps him breathe.

He gets money every month from the Czech government, but officials are afraid to give it to him all at once, in case he burns it.

It’s hard to put yourself in this man’s shoes. His connection to flame and ash is unique, and a part of his life that he simply cannot live without. He wears only a fleece sweater in the winters to keep warm because he is never far from fire. Share this man’s unique habits with others.

Art historian Paul Koudounaris hunted down these jewel encrusted skeletons in secret Catholic vaults. Those are the remains of Catholic martyrs dug up from Roman catacombs. They were sent to churches across Europe to replace relics destroyed in Reformation. Some took up to five years to decorate in gold, silver and gemstones. Several skeletons were even found hidden away in lock-ups and containers.

Dettifoss is the most powerful waterfall in Europe. It’s located in Vatnajökull National Park in Northeast Iceland. It is situated on the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river, which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier and collects water from a large area in Northeast Iceland. The falls are 330 ft (100 m) wide and have a drop of 150 ft (45 m) down to the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. It is the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of volume discharge, having an average water flow of 193 m3/s.
