Here is the tomb after it was unearthed. A team worked together to open the box without disturbing the contents.

Road workers in the eastern China were given the task of widening a road in the city of Taizhou, in the Jiangsu Province. They were digging about 6 feet below the surface when they came across something completely by chance that no one was expecting to find. They hit something solid while digging and after a bit of research they realized that they had actually hit buried tomb. It was time to call in professional archeologists to unearth and reveal this mystery. They found that the chamber was over 700 years old.

Here the team prepares to see what was inside for the first time after 700 years.

Encased in the stone tomb was a wooden box.

After opening the box they found that the contents were rare silks and linens lying in some sort of brown liquid.

They discovered a mummy of a woman under the layers of fabric.

They were amazed to see the body and contents in near perfect shape for being underground for over 700 years.

They think the mummy was a high ranking member of the Ming Dynasty.

She was adorned with beautiful jewelry from the time period.

The team carefully moved the woman out of her tomb for the first time.

She was wrapped in many rare layers of fabric that would have been common for a high ranking member of the Ming Dynasty.

Whatever she was preserved in was remarkable. She even had her eyebrows still attached.

This close up of her shoes shows how well preserved her corpse was.

This is a rare find and with advancements in archeology today she will stay preserved in a museum.

What an incredible find to just stumble upon. This find will answer many questions about the Ming Dynasty and the forbidden city in China. After excavating the site, archeologists found 2 other coffins that they are researching now. Im sure we will see more on this story as time passes and data is analyzed. Only time will unearth the beautiful secrets from the past.

 Mexico’s Ancient Teotihuacan In Mexico
Years after first discovering a secret tunnel beneath the ancient city Teotihuacan in Mexico, researchers now have uncovered thousands of ritual objects. Here two of the pre-Columbian sculptures unearthed by investigators at the Teotihuacan archeological site in Mexico.

The Mysterious Tunnel
The tunnel follows a route of symbols leading to several sealed funeral chambers that may be a tomb holding the bodies of ancient rulers. The site is located about 30 miles northeast of Mexico City.

Teotihuacan City
In the middle of the first century, Teotihuacan was the largest city in the Americas with an estimated 200,000 inhabitants. Centuries after Teotihuacan had fallen, The Aztecs, who arrived gave the city the name, “birthplace of the gods”.

The Tunnel’s Entrance
The newly discovered tunnel is hundreds of feet long, it appeared to have been closed on purpose by the city’s inhabitants. Its entrance was covered with rocks and is more than 40 feet below ground.

First Discovery: 2003
The entrance to the 1,800-year-old tunnel was first discovered in 2003. Its contents were found via excavations by remote-control robots and then human researchers.

Object Found Inside..
Discoveries include “finely carved stone sculptures, jewelry and shells along with obsidian blades and arrowheads.” There is an estimated 50,000 found ritual objects.

Shells Unearthed
The team has excavated two feet into the chambers. They found offerings laid before the entrances of three chambers at the end of the tunnel. Historians and archaeologists believe these artifacts appear to lead to royal tombs burials.

The Setting Of Tunnels
The archaeological exported a noted orange pottery. Its name is pronounced “tay-oh-tee-wah-CAHN.”

An Ancient Decorative Vessel
A zoomorphic vessel found at the Temple of the Feathered Serpent was found at the Teotihuacan complex.

The Exploration Continues
Discovery of tombs may unlock long held mysteries of a civilization that left no written records of its existence, including how it was governed and whether leadership was hereditary. Further exploration of the tomb are scheduled to be continued next year.

This Reddit user recently created the perfect woodsy bookshelf from slabs of oak and detailed the whole thing in pictures. Take a look and see if you might be up to the task. Ron Swanson would be so proud.

First step: sanding down the surface.

Next step: varnish and patiently waiting for it to dry.

Then to make sure the holes for the stands line up.

Arranging the planks: they wanted as much bark viewable from the front as possible.

Next up: push the pipe stands through the re-enforced holes.

And then finally stand it up!

Very rustic and charming!

And of course, the finishing touch: books!

Still seems a lot easier than following any Ikea instructions.

On June 20, 2010, Zak Anderegg was hiking alone in an Arizona desert. While trying to find his way through a canyon, he managed to find so much more: a stuck puppy and a heartbreaking example of just how cruel humans can be.

Take a look at how Anderegg handled finding a dog at the bottom of a 350’ canyon.

The exit.

The dog eating a much needed meal.

Unable to rescue the dog that afternoon, Anderegg left food and water and set out to fetch what he’d need to save the pup’s life.

He was back the very next morning, ready to bring the dog to safety.

The poor little guy had to spend some time at the animal hospital.

And even after that, it took him a while to get his strength back.

But it all led to him finding a new home and a new name: Riley.

Riley with his savior.

Riley living the life he was always meant to lead.

According to Anderegg, there’s no way Riley got down in that canyon on his own. As angering as it is to know that there are people out there who would leave a pet to die in a desert, it is comforting to know that there are also people like Zak Anderegg who would stop at nothing to help that discarded dog.
