A man from Nova Scotia named Scott Tanner was fishing in Newfoundland when he pulled up a strange creature that looks like something you’d see on an old-fashioned map of the sea…but it’s real.
A bizarre fish with a birdlike beak and electric green eyes was caught in a fishing trawler off the coast of Newfoundland.

Even experienced fishermen are stunned by the looks of this thing, but Tanner isn’t convinced that it’s a monster. He says it looks like a deep-sea fish called the long-nosed chimaera.

Tanner may be right, but spotting a chimaera is nothing to scoff at either, since the creatures are usually found between 660 and 6,560 feet below the surface.

The chimaera was pulled in by a net meant for catching cod. It most likely died before it surfaced due to the pressure change. Even though most of the blank spots on old maps have been filled in, if you look hard enough, you can still find the sea monsters that those Vikings warned us about.

Jake was saved by a local firefighter named Bill Lindler. “I noticed there was some smoke coming from my neighbor’s yard. The residents were yelling their puppy was in the building. I ran back into my house, grabbed some firefighting gear and ran across the street.”

Although he was saved, Jake still suffered burns to 75% of his body, including his paw pads. His owners soon had to abandon him at the vet, as they couldn’t afford to pay for his care.

“I contacted the vet and the vet informed me that…the family had abandoned him at the office. That’s when me and my family decided we would adopt him.”

Surrounded by loving people at the Hanahan Fire Department and Lindler’s family, Jake recovered quickly.

He turned out to be such a great morale booster for the firefighters that he’s now not only been given the official title of station mascot, but he’s also been made an honorary firefighter.

“I would honestly like to get him certified to be a therapy dog for burned children.”

“But [I] have changed gears and we are focusing on training him to be an Arson Detection Dog.”

Cinatl said she had been having pain in her ribs for two weeks prior. So she thought nothing of it when she woke up around 3am with the same pain.

On May 21, Corinne Cinatl, 29, from Victoria, Australia gave birth to her baby girl Matilda in her car at the side of the road while enroute to the hospital. She and her husband had hoped to make the 35 minute trip, but baby Matilda decided she could not wait that long.

Cinatl’s husband, Mishi pulled the car over when her water broke and helped delivered the baby right there in the car. Luckily the couple’s birth photographer had been following them on the way to the hospital and captured the whole thing.

When stretching didn’t help and the pain intensified, Cinatl realized she was having contractions. Baby Matilda was on her way.

Cinatl was hesitant to believe she was actually going into labor. “I thought I had more time,” she said.

When her husband saw the contractions were coming faster and about 4 minutes apart, he started packing the car. He also notified the birth photographer, Breanna Gravener that the baby was coming.

With their three year old son, Charlie, in the car the family only got about 20 minutes into the 35 minute trip to the hospital.

Cinatl’s water broke and she said she could feel the baby’s head between her legs. That was when they pulled off the road to deliver right there in the car.

They didn’t know their birth photographer had gone to their house first and followed them on the way to the hospital “just in case something happened.”

Luckily for the Cinatl’s she was there to capture the unique miracle of baby Matilda’s birth.

After the birth they called an ambulance, and both mommy and baby were so healthy they were discharged from the hospital six hours later.

That’s one proud mother.
