When Buddha said “Peace comes from within,” he probably didn’t mean inside an actual Buddha statue. But Netherlands-based Drents Museum recently discovered that one of their Buddhas was hiding a secret: crouched inside was a monk who had died around the year 1100 AD.

The statue (and accompanying mummy) was taken to the Meander Medical Center, where it received a CT scan and an endoscopy, and was identified by researchers to contain the mummified remains of Buddhist master Liuquan of the Chinese Meditation School. Liuquan is currently visiting Hungary, and will be on display at the Hungarian Natural History Museum until May 2015.

These are the contents of a mysterious white bag found hidden in Neil Armstrong’s closet: Weird looking lamps, wrenches, utility brackets, sights and a film camera that later was identified as the one that captured the famous Apollo 11′s descent on the Moon’s surface. Nobody knew about it, including his widow.

According to NASA, Carol Armstrong sent photos to Allan Needell, curator of the Apollo collection at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, who immediately knew what was inside: It was a McDivitt Purse full of parts from the Eagle, Apollo 11′s Lunar Module:

Here’s a list of everything inside and how it looked inside and outside the Eagle:

1. The McDivitt Purse

 2. Power Cable for Data Acquisition Camera

3 & 4. Utility lights

5 & 6. Utility clamps

7. Crewman Optical Alignment

8. Filter (Snap-on for COAS)

9. Light Bulb Assembly (Spare for COAS)

10. Waist Tether (Extra-Vehicular Activity tether)

11. Helmet Tie Down Strap (x2)

12. Data Acquisition Camera (DAC -16mm movie)

This is the camera that captured the descent (this video gets me every single time I watch it):

12b. 10-mm lens (for DAC)

13. Lens Shade (Teflon; for 10mm lens on DAC)

14. Eyeguard Assembly (for AOT)

The Alignment Optical Telescope was used for navigation while flying the Lunar Module, “a periscope-type device that protruded through the top of the LM. The astronauts used AOT to make direct visual sightings and record precise angular measurements of pairs of celestial objects.”

15. Mirror (Metal)

16. Tool B: Emergency Wrench

17. Waste Management Cover

18. Netting

Something has been hiding in countless animated movies that you have watched by Disney and Pixar. You have probably seen it time and time again without ever realizing it: A113.

This combination of a letter and numbers has been appearing in animated movies for years. Don’t believe it? An online movie enthusiast was scouring through these movies to find examples and came up with plenty from both Pixar and Disney movies. The hidden message is everywhere.

The plate on Andy’s mom’s car in Toy Story.

A box in A Bug’s Life.

This camera in Finding Nemo.

The coordinates of Mr. Incredible’s cell in The Incredibles.

On different vehicles in Cars.

An ear tag in Ratatouille.

The code for Abandon Earth protocol in Wall-E.

The courtroom number in Up.

On even more vehicles in Cars 2.

Engraved in Roman numerals in Brave.

On this door in Monster’s University.

And then… in Lilo & Stitch.

The Iron Giant.

The Princess and the Frog.

The Brave Little Toaster.

American Dad.

The Simpsons.

The Avengers.

And it all refers to something so simple.

A113 simply refers to the classroom number where many animators learned their craft. A113 refers to a classroom number at the California Institute of Arts. This room was used for first year graphic design and character animation, where many of the animators at Pixar and Disney (and other studios) were taught. By putting “A113″ somewhere in the film, these animators are able to give a nod to the other people doing what they do. And that’s awesome.
Try to find the numbers in the next animated movie you watch. Chances are, you will. Share this neat hidden message with others.
