Calvin Harris has really stepped up his game and as a result has become the face of Emporio Armani. Maybe it’s just the Taylor Swift influence? The DJ has certainly come a long way since he first debuted on the scene.

Sam Smith got on the healthy bandwagon in 2015, frequently updating his Instagram followers with pics of healthy meals and images of him hitting the gym. He credits nutritionist Amelia Freer with his weight loss.

Kelly Ripa gave Katy Perry a run for her money when she went from pink to blue and then back to normal in just a couple of months. When she went pink she said, “Every time I get ready to go on vacation, I dye my hair a different color. Usually, it washes out—and this will wash out, I just haven’t washed my hair yet. But it’s part of my tradition!”

Abita

Sitting 30 miles north of New Orleans, this brewery gets its name from the town of Abita Springs which was a Choctaw Indian village. Although the origin of the word “Abita” is unclear, the Choctaw insist that it’s not actually a word but the name of a man who came from far away and made his home near the springs, and it was so long ago that no Indian now living ever saw him.

Dogfish Head

Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head, got the suggestion on what to call his new brewery from his dad as they were jogging past a street of the same name in Southport, Maine.

Flying Dog

Founder George Stranahan climbed K2 (the 2nd highest summit in the world) with some friends and enjoyed a drink at a bar in Pakistan afterwards. They noticed a painting of a pack of dogs that appeared to be flying , so Stranahan named his brewery “Flying Dog” to pay homage to his life-changing climb and the experience he shared with his friends.

Goose Island

Based in Chicago, the brewery is named for an artificial island in the middle of the Chicago River.

Founders

Originally called “Canal Street Brewing Company” when it opened in 1996,this Michigan favorite was named after a Grand Rapids area where many 19th century breweries were located. Since the beer labels depicted images of these founding fathers of brew, they were soon nicknamed “Founders.”

Ommegang

Crafting Belgian style beer since 1997, Wendy Littlefield and Don Feinberg went dutch when deciding the name. “Ommegang” means “to walk around,” and an annual festival with the same name in has been commemorating the first visit of Emperor Charles V to Brussels since 1549.

Sierra Nevada

This is the 2nd best-selling craft brewery in the US, and the name came from founder Ken Grossman’s favorite vacation getaway, the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

New Belgium
In 1989, co-founder Jeff Lebesh was in Belgium on his bike sampling beers. This inspired him to open up shop and make his own, and he returned with an idea to pay homage to the place that motivated his new calling, naming it New Belgium.

Left Hand

In 1993 they incorporated as Indian Peaks Brewing Company, but a few weeks after beginning production they discovered the name was already taken. The name was changed to honor Chife Niwot, whose name means “left hand” in Arapahoe.

21st Amendment

This San-Francisco based beer is named in honor of the constitutional amendment that repealed prohibition and let Americans everywhere enjoy a nice cold glass of brew.

Pink Floyd
They were called the Tea Set until they found out that they were on a show with a band with the same name. Roger Waters quickly combined the name of his two favorite blues musicians (Pink Anderson and Floyd Council) and got the new name.

Daft Punk
The French musicians were playing a different style of music under the name Darlin’ when a critic described their sound as “a daft punky thrash.” They stole the idea for their next gig.

Alice Cooper and Cheap Trick
Apparently both of these bands asked a psychic with a Ouija board what they should call their band, and got this answer.

The Rolling Stones
They Brits took their names from a Muddy Waters song called “Mannish Boy.”

Coldplay
They were originally called Starfish and were friends with a band called Coldplay, and when the original Coldplay called it quits, they asked if they could take the name.

Green Day
The name is in reference to a day in which you spend smoking weed. Alllllllll day.

Duran Duran
The English band was named after a character in the erotic space film Barbarella. Yes, really.

Skrillex
The DJ’s name is taken from his middle school instant messenger screenname.

Steely Dan
The jazz rock outfit is named for a giant steam powered steel dildo in William Burroughs’ book Naked Lunch.

The name came from BB King, ZZ just being a play, and “Top” from their opinion that King was the best.

Cleaning the Dead
In Indonesia, it is fairly common for ancestors of a passed loved one to dig up the body. But why?

Respect for the Elderly: New Extremes
We have heard making a body look good before it is put in the ground, but digging it up from time to time to re-dress it, clean it up, and tidy up the casket seems a bit excessive.

The Works
These corpses get the first class spa treatment, consisting of a cleaning, grooming, and new pair of clothes for their return trip to the six feet under.

Come, Come Everyone!
It does not matter the age of the person when they became deceased, as you can see even children are exhumed and treated with respect.

Keep the Spirits Around
This particular Indonesian tradition stems from the notion that the spirits of the dead can, and should, remain around the town where they lived. They are simply encouraging these spirits’ participation.

Toraja: The Hub of the Tradition
In particular, an Indonesian village called Toraja engages in this ritual more than any other. In this village the death ritual is considered more important than even marriage.

Not Much Work to Be Done
After years of decay, how much grooming could be required of these mostly hair-less corpses? Well, imagine how they would look if they had not been keeping them young all of these years.

Flaunt it if You Got It
This woman has a head of hair that many men and women would be enviable of, and she looks like she has been dead for centuries!

Don’t Fear the Reaper
Look at how comfortable this boy is handling the dead body of what is presumably his past relative. This tradition certainly is a way to remember loved ones in an intimate way.
