Not only was Maverick rescued from a kill shelter, where he was mostly skin and bones, but he’s recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma.

His family did what any family would do; they fought it. The first round of chemotherapy was a success and Maverick went into remission. Two months ago, however, it came back and the chemo made Maverick so weak, he couldn’t walk. Everything looked dire and they worried that this would his last days.

So his owner Joey Maxwell had a brilliant idea. He put Maverick on a wagon and took him for walks through the town. Thinking that this might be it, he wanted Maverick to enjoy his last days, being outside and just loving life.

They went to the local hardware store, and knowing that all of their savings had been spent on chemo for Maverick, they had very little money for a wagon. After sharing his story, Maxwell and Maverick got a discount on a some wheels from the touched employees, to make the ride extra comfortable for Maverick.

I mean how can you not love this guy? He’s adorable!

Originally the plan was to take it day by day, but every day they go for a walk, and the neighbours make a point to give Maverick a pat.

Just look how much he loves the rides and his adoring supporters.

And the town gives him so much love.

But you should never discount the power of love, because what looked like Maverick’s last week, turned out to be his motivation to fight.

Maverick got up a few days ago, with the help of a wheelchair and he’s moving on his own.

Even sitting up unaided. How’s that for a turnaround? This guy is one hell of a fighter.

You’ve got this Maverick!

However, Shiela was in far worse condition that Kahn and would have likely passed away had In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center not intervened.
Initially, Sheila was so weak that she could not stand up. She would lay on the ground and vomit for most of the day, but the vet wouldn’t give up on her.

According to her rescuer “For two weeks, I had to go in with Sheila and hand-feed her. I’d roll up meat balls and literally stuff them down her throat.”

When Sheila began to regain some of her strength, she was moved next door to Kahn, another lion rescued from the same man.

The chemistry was evident immediately.

The keepers allowed the lions to ‘date’ while they were supervised.

“We did short dates every day, then the dates got longer and then the dates became unsupervised.”

“Then we let them spend the night together. After three months of ‘dating’, we let them get ‘married.’”

The couple has been living in the same enclosure since.

But what happened to the monster who let this happen to them? He got his license revoked and is no longer allowed to keep exotic animals. Period.

It’s funny to think that tigers are just massive cats. They do all the same things that house cats do, just they’re a lot more dangerous. Like this here, they’re hanging out and cleaning each other. Isn’t that adorable? But, this wasn’t always the way Aasha, a Bengal Tiger lived.

When she was 9 months old, she weighed only 30 pounds. That is about as heavy as a normal 3-month-old tiger should weigh. She was living the unfortunate, cruel life of a travelling circus animal. She was mistreated as well as picked on by a much bigger tiger.

Fortunately, Vicky Keahey of Texas’ In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, decided to do something about it. She took Aasha in and nursed her back to health.

Keahey said that “Aasha’s bald spots covered almost her entire body and her skin was dry (with) cracked, darken areas and bleeding.”

Twice a day, every day, Keahey would give her medications and medicated baths in the hopes of curing Aasha of her ringworm and open wounds. It took several months, but Aasha started to grow into the big beautiful cat she was meant to be.

Aasha was finally introduced to a bigger tiger, Smuggler, who apparently “went crazy for her and was always showing off for her.” Break out the tissues, because this story just grabs your feels and rips them apart.

She even became fond of playing in water!

Aasha now lives in the same enclosure as Smuggler, and the two love each other like no other.

She even likes to play “human” and dramatically look outside of the window!

Blue is the best friend and service dog for Owen Lima; a man who had a severe car accident 40 years ago and has been living with a brain injury.

Owen and Blue were walking through Northgate Mall, when he saw a hiring stand for a new Lowe’s location was opening, and he decided to apply; only he told the recruiter that he and Blue were a package deal.

The store manager didn’t even bat an eye and conducted the interview as normal and decided to hire both Owen and Blue for the store.

He also did a little research about service dogs and found that all they needed was for Blue have a uniform and a place to chill out with some water, food and a blanket.

Lowe’s Canada shared this image on Facebook, and so far it’s been shared 15K times since Owen started this past Monday.

He’s a also got a little name tag. How awesome is that?

So far, Owen’s doing well. Customers love him and Blue and for the first time in a decade, he feels like he belongs.

As a customer service representative, Owen is able to help the community he’s grown up in, as he knows everyone and they all know him as well.

As for Blue, he’s loving it.

Keep up the good work, guys!

In his spare time, he’s got an Etsy shop where he makes really cool, Star Wars themed fire pits.

So far, in his product line, he’s got a stormtrooper helmet, Darth Vader and R2-D2.

He’s only been on Etsy since January, and he’s already sold a few of the Darth Vader ones, and one of the stormtroopers.

Sadly, no one want’s an R2. *sad beep*

He handcrafts each and everyone himself, starting with an old propane tank.

All the little pieces are cut by hand and then welded on.

Even with the unfinished metal and weld marks, it’s pretty cool Steampunk version of Vader, don’t you think?

Once it’s all finished up, they look pretty awesome.

So other than the experience of making cool Star Wars themed, sheet metal creations, Ron has another reason for making his fire pits.

This is his sister Melody, and what she didn’t know until recently was that both her brother and Darth Vader were coming to help her.

Melody currently lives in Louisiana, having moved down there in 2003. She was working as the hospice and inmate volunteer director at Angola, the Louisiana State Penitentiary, until she was diagnosed with Lyme disease, and had to step away from her career for treatment.

One day she was browsing her bother’s Etsy page and came across a blurb about why he was making the pits.

According to Ron, his sister was everything to him growing up; taking care of him, raising him, and now he wanted to give back to her, and this was the only way he knew how.

Currently his sister spends about $6,500 US a month on treatment for Lyme disease, and he hopes that what little money he can make from the pits, can help.

He’s also got ideas for other pit styles that he’ll be offering on his site soon, and he feels that as long as he can raise awareness about Lyme disease and keep on helping his sister, he’s on the right track.

The force is definitely strong with this one.

Sooner or later, the day will come when we have to say goodbye to them

To pet owners that have to put your baby down; stay there with them! As much as it’ll hurt you to see them go, it’ll give them a sense of comfort, and perhaps you a sense of closure. I worked at a clinic, not as a vet, but as an assistant. Sometimes, I had to hold them as the final shot was given, and it would kill me a little every time I saw owners walk out of the room, while their baby lay there on the table looking for its parents, confused, and in some cases freaking out.

A few owners stayed and actually held them as it happened, those pets remained the calmest and looked the most peaceful. As the voice of their master whispered “it’s going to be ok” into their ears and they got scratched in their favorite spot, they mustered the energy to give that final purr, or that last lick to the face. Their glistening eyes, still full of life, telling their sobbing parents everything they wanted to say, everything you needed to hear, without a single bark or meow – even if your little guy was one of those that loved to wake the family up at 4 in the morning.

Most people rush through life, filled with ambition.

Life can be a marvelous blessing and every day can feel like a miracle. But then… there are times when it’s tough. If you’ve ever had trouble keeping your chin up or feeling accomplished in life, you need to see this simple cartoon. Most people go through slumps, that’s normal. But they find a way to pick themselves up and move forward.
Don’t feel beaten down or trodden on. Instead, you should read this. It’ll help.

But do you feel left behind?

Worthless?

Trampled on by others?

Just don’t give up hope.

Never give up.

You may compare yourself to other people and feel useless and inadequate, but as long as you persevere and never give up, you can accomplish things far and beyond the limits and restraints you’ve put upon yourselves.
People will tell you to nut up, ignore those people, those people have problems of their own to take care of and empathy is a foreign concept to them. You will never be rid of negative, unkind, unsympathetic, and insensitive voices around you; if you alter your behavior to those whims of those voices, you will never grow as a person. Focus on yourself. You can do it. Do it.
Don’t let other people’s arrogance, accomplishments and goals make you feel bad about your own. You are a special person. Please share this important message. More people need to see it.
