Photographer Captures Famous Landmarks, But Looks The Other Way

Titled “Volte-face,” this captivating series is the brainchild of British photographer Oliver Curtis. The genesis of his inspiration dates back to 2012 during a visit to the Pyramids of Giza. Curtis recounts his experience, sharing that while gazing at the pyramids, he unexpectedly spotted a newly built golf course with vivid green fairways in the distance. Struck by the juxtaposition of colors, textures, and forms, he found the scene intriguing. Curtis reflects on the peculiarity of his position – standing at one of the world’s wonders, yet intentionally facing the ‘wrong’ direction. This encounter sparked the creative journey that became the thought-provoking “Volte-face” series.
