Ranking The Best Dave Bautista Movies

Recently, we have seen a trend of professional wrestling turning to acting. While this is nothing new, we have been seeing it more frequently since the late-2010s and early 2020s. John Cena’s role in Suicide Squad (2021) earned him a starring role in a television show, Dwayne Johnson is one of the most notable celebrities working today, and Dave Bautista has won the hearts of a whole generation of movie-goers.

Out of the three wrestlers listed, it is our opinion that Mr. Bautista has the best acting chops. He has starred in comedic and dramatic roles and has shown that he can handle both. Of course, as a former pro-wrestler, he is no stranger to action either. So, in this article, we would like to rank the best Dave Bautista roles and films.

Army of the Dead (2021)

In 2021, Zack Snyder’s zombie-action-heist film hit Netflix. Featuring a star-studded cast, the film’s plot follows a band of criminals tasked with robbing a casino. The twist? Las Vegas is now Zombietown. The City of Sin may once have been the home of the grandest casinos. But now, it is just a zombie-infested wasteland.

Lucky for many gamblers, the iGaming industry is thriving in 2023. So, if you want to play any of your favorite games, you can find a casino online easier than ever. And lucky for the crime team in Army of the Dead, there is no security to guard the richest casinos in the world. So, armed with a ton of guns and ammo, the band of thieves enters Las Vegas, with one goal in mind: Get rich quickly. Truly, nothing changes even in the zombie apocalypse.

Guardians of the Galaxy/Vol. 2 (2014/2017)

In 2014, James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters. The film sees a band of intergalactic criminals come together to stop a greater evil, the fanatical Ronan the Accuser. Dave Bautista portrays the simple-minded Drax, whose goal is simple: Kill the person who slayed his wife and child.

The success of Guardians of the Galaxy came as a huge shock, and soon the Guardians were introduced to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sequel saw the same characters go up against the Living Planet, Ego, and Dave Bautista reprised his role as Drax. He has also reprised the role in a plethora of Avengers films, including Infinity War and Endgame.

Dune (2021)

Finally, we come to the space opera, science fantasy epic that is Dune. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film is based on the sci-fi classic novel, and tells the story of the Atreides family. Specifically, the focus is on the heir to the family, Paul, whose father ends up betrayed.

Paul and his mother must navigate the desert wasteland planet, aptly named Dune. Along the way, they are met by the local inhabitants, who end up taking them in. Now, Paul Atreides must adapt to a new, foreign way of life, all the while harboring feelings of hatred and revenge.
