Ridiculously Huge Hairdos From The ’60s

The 1960s was a weird time for women’s hair. Back then, the motto was “the taller the hair, the closer to God,” and a Marge Simpson-style ‘do that was at least twice the size of the woman’s head was considered peak fashion. Apparently, one of the first things a 1960s bachelor would ask himself when seeking out a potential mate was, “could a family of birds reside in her head?” If not, it was a hard pass. So to keep the men (and the birds) a-flockin’, women spent hours upon hours constructing the perfect scalp skyscrapers. Here are some of the most impressive feats from the bizarre era.
