This Might Be The Most Accurate Thing Ever Written

  1. You feel like you should have been taught to VOTE? It’s important, but it’s not difficult.

I’m not saying our education system is perfect, but school is for teaching academics, not Everything You Need For Life. Parents and common sense have to kick in somewhere.

Things learned in school that aren’t used every day are still not wasted. I teach math, and could live my life just fine without knowing a speck of biology, chemistry, or literature, but I’m glad I know them. Knowledge is never wasted.

The Pythagorean Theorem is a really important concept — a lot follows from it. Even if you are not in a math or science career, it’s still part of the body of information that all educated people know.

Do you really want to live in a society where you are only ever exposed to things you NEED to know? The world used to be like that, and it was considered a step forward when education was made available to everyone.

And BTW, I don’t think the person who made this knows ALL about “Pythagorean Theorems.” For starters, there’s only one Pythagorean Theorem.

  2. We don’t teach these things so we have thousands of consumer protection laws to protect people from their own stupidity. Get real, Socrates. We used to learn how to compute compound interest. I think some egghead like you said it was the most powerful force in the word. And you don’t need to know a thing about Pythagoras.
