Get a double edge safety razor. Safety razor blades are only about 10 cents each, while razor cartridges can be a few dollars each.

I switched to the old school style safety razor because I found a deal for 100 blades around $8 — I use one blade per week. Cost for shaving blades just dropped under $5 per year.

Bedbugs are insanely expensive to deal with and frankly traumatizing to live with. This Mattress Encasement will help protect against bedbugs and dust mites.

If you have an expensive mattress, get a bedbug liner. My wife and I had to throw out a 6 month old $1,200 mattress because we didn’t spend $25 on a cover. It’s really not worth trying to salvage the mattress once its infested, even if you kill all the live bugs you still need to worry about eggs.

Considering that I’ve been using the same set of rechargeable batteries for at least 3-4 years already, a good Battery Charger is definitely worth it.

Electricity Usage Monitor

With this device, you can see how much of a phantom load your powered-down electrical devices are still pulling through the wall outlet. If you discover devices that are pulling a significant load, unplugging them (or using an appropriate device to stop the drain) will save you money over time. This device is also useful for figuring out how much power various home devices are draining and, with some quick calculations, exactly how much it’s costing you.

Water leak detectors prevent serious water damage in your home. This self-contained unit will sound a loud alarm the second it gets wet, alerting you to a potential water leak.

My washing machine’s drain line just backed up into our utility room yesterday. I wouldn’t have known until the whole cycle’s worth of water was in the floor but for the leak alarm sitting behind the washer! I was able to stop the cycle immediately and sop up two towels worth of water. Called the home warranty company and they sent a contractor out this morning to rotoroot our kitchen sink drain (it’s on the same drain line as the washer line). Problem solved within 24 hours.

Smart Thermostats lets you set the temperature lower when they don’t sense you around — and they can even be tied to apps that let you adjust temperatures when you’re out of the house and to your home security system, too

I once got a high interior humidity alert on an exceptionally dry day, decided to run home at lunch and check it out just to discover that somehow the water line for my ice maker had cracked and was spraying water all over my kitchen. Since I otherwise wouldn’t have been home for another 10 hours, I can only imagine the headaches this saved me.

Disposable bottles are a total waste of money. All you need is one reusable water bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Plus the Hydroflask will keep your water cold for a ridiculous long time!

This filtered water pitcher holds ten cups and puts clean, pure water in your fridge at the ready. The BPA-free pitcher reduces mercury, chlorine, and copper from your water. One Brita water filter can replace 300 standard 16.9 ounce water bottles.

LED light bulbs are a no-brainer. They have a rated life of up to 50,000 hours. This is approximately 50 times longer than a typical incandescent, 20-25 times longer than a typical halogen, and 8-10 times longer than a typical CFL

How many rolls of paper towels do you go through every month? Whatever the number, you can shrink it by loading up on microfiber cloths.

They help produce to stay fresh in my fridge for up to two full weeks and have cut my produce spending in half because I’m no longer throwing away half of a bag of greens, and whatever else didn’t survive the fridge every week

BUY A DASH CAM FOR YOUR CAR!

I bought and hooked up my dash cam in 2015 and literally have not touched it since. Over the weekend somebody cut me off and caused a BAD multi car accident. The lady that caused the accident swore up and down that I was at fault. By the time the cops got there, I was able to get the footage from my dash cam to my phone (you can connect your phone through the dash cam app). It clearly showed she had pulled out in front of me without looking. I saved the file and emailed the cop. He said it definitely wasn’t my fault and his report would show that. This probably would have cost me hundreds of dollars if not thousands!!! Everyone should have a dash cam because you just never know what might happen, especially when it’s not your fault.
